LOVERS' DUET
You speak as if all truths were your tongue,
Those words- they drown me,
Lull me,
Entice me.
And as if the language of the universe
Was the first song you sang-
A well-tuned verse
An overwhelmingly lovely curse.
Then I decided to sing with you-
Tiptoed on high pitches,
Somersaulted on the final cue,
And said losing you would be blue.
Now, I wonder, of all the things,
you told me and I told you
Which ones were true,
Who was the better liar— Me or you?
